Summary[]

Dragons

Dragons are the essence of Merge Dragons. They give you Dragon Power to unlock various game features and to reveal Dead Land in your Camp.

You start out with Dragon Eggs that you can merge into Dragons.

After merging 3 or 5 level 4 Dragons, one or two Nests will be created, respectively. These Nests have Eggs of an evolved form (tier 2) of the same Dragons you've merged. The Eggs are significantly larger and have a different coloration. Merge them to achieve even greater and stronger Dragons!

As of Version 10.9.1 (6th of September 2023), players have 169 slots in the Dragon Book for different Dragon breeds.

Important Note: Currently, this page misses entries for 33 Dragon breeds. Out of them:

  • 3 breeds are Premium Dragons that were added to the database but haven't been offered anywhere in the game yet. See here for more information.
  • 30 breeds can be obtained from a new Dragon Breeding feature, which started its Beta testing phase with Version 10.6.0 (28th of June 2023).

Dragon Eggs[]

You can obtain Eggs in a variety of ways:

Standard Eggs[]

These Eggs can be bought in the Egg Shop for Coins:

Non-Buyable Eggs[]

These Eggs cannot be purchased in the Egg Shop, but can be obtained from various game features without spending real money:

Event Eggs[]

These Eggs can at first only be achieved during Events. Usually can be bought[3] for Dragon Gems in the Egg Shop shortly after the Event ends and the player discovers the Event Dragon Whelp (with the exception of the Owl Griffons[4], Chameleon Dragons and Season Dragons[5]). Chameleon Dragons and Season Dragons Nests will appear in the Egg Shop once a level 4 Dragon is discovered.

Baby Dragons[]

Originally only players who purchased the Baby Dragon Pack for real money and unlocked corresponding Dragon Whelps had them available at the Egg Shop. Later players could get them as rewards from Merge 5 Event before its discontinuation. Nowadays (2020) you can get them as rewards from some of out-of-Camp Events. They are also offered by most Decision Eggs other than the purple one from the Dragon Shrine.

Premium Dragons[]

Premium Dragon breeds are mostly available as a cash purchase from limited time offers. These offers appear randomly, and so far are not accessible to all players.

The things may differ from offer to offer, but most players either get a 10$ (in the U.S., the price varies depending on the country of the user) deal of five Nests, or a 20$ deal of five Nests, five level 1 Dragon Whelps, five level 2 Dragon Kids and some bonus objects (like level 6 The Orb Holder and level 10 Rooted Life Tree).

Aside from the cash offers, some of the premium breeds can be permanently or temporarily obtained in other ways:

In the table below you can track which Event themes have got Premium breeds so far, and whether they were offered as free Event Rewards.

Breeds marked by an asterisk (*) either were offered at Event of a different theme, or are/were available through different means. Please refer to their individual pages for more information.

Mystery Eggs[]

There are three kinds of Mystery Dragon Eggs, a Nest of which can be bought in the Egg Shop for Dragon Gems (Tanzanite Mystery Nest, Sapphire Mystery Nest and Ruby Fire Mystery Nest). Despite their name, the Mystery Nests of each type also drop random Eggs of the same type of Dragons that may spawn from the merging of the corresponding Eggs.

Mystery Eggs and Nests

Mystery Nests and Mystery Eggs

They can also be found in Supernests (come from the 135 Gems Super Nest Vaults) and Meganests (you can get them from the 750 Gems Mega Nest Vaults or for 825 Gems in the Egg Shop).

Ruby Fire Eggs can also be harvested from Dragon Trees levels 5 and up. Sapphire Eggs and Tanzanite Eggs cannot be harvested, but Eggs and Nests are most commonly obtained from the Fountain of Youth (Sapphire Eggs and Nests), the Trinity Dome (Sapphire Eggs), the Ruins of the Sky Palace (Tanzanite Eggs and Nests) and the Bottled Ocean (Tanzanite Eggs and Nests).

All three types of Mystery Eggs can also be obtained from tapping/merging Monster Idols, Mythical Idols, Ornate Gold Statues and Jeweled Precious Statues (the last two Chains mostly come from beta features)

A fourth type of Mystery Dragon Eggs, Aventurine Eggs, can be obtained from some Dragon Missions, from tapping Ornate Gold Statues and tapping/merging Jeweled Precious Statues, and from Aventurine Mystery Nests, which cannot be bought from the Egg Shop, but are available as a Mystery Offer for real money, from tapping some Jeweled Precious Statues, and from the Mystery Nest - Ultranest (beta, not available to all players).

Dragon Power[]

Dragons can have as little as 1 Dragon Power (most level 1 Whelps of Standard Dragon breeds), and as much as 15,000 (most level 10 Trophy Dragons).

Here you can see a comparative list of all level 10 Dragons.

Note: You can tap any column header to sort the table in a different way. Reloading the page will restore it to its original state.

Merging Dragons[]

Dragons can be merged via the Dragon Book which lets you merge them in 3s (if you have 3 or 4) or 5s (if you have 5 or more). To prevent them from auto-merging, toggle off "Allow Chain Reactions" in the Game Settings.

Dragons can also be merged by bringing 3 or more of the same breed and level together in Camp or in Levels. You may have to tap through your Dragon Homes to find the right ones to merge.

You can only merge Dragons of the same breed and level.

Tips[]

  • Dragons sometimes auto-merge immediately after they are created, especially when 3 or more Dragons are created in a single merge. Newly created Dragons may also merge with roaming Dragons (of the same type) when created in quick succession. Most of the time this is a merge of only 3 Dragons. From Version 2.2.0 onwards you can prevent this by turning off the combos option in the Settings.
  • The fastest way to create large numbers of Mystery Eggs (if you aren't paying Dragon Gems for them) is to construct the Ruins of the Sky Palace. If you have several Dragon Trees of level 4 or above, and a bit of space, harvest the Trees for Elderwood, and merge the Elderwood in 5s. Its 4th level (20 Elderwood minimum needed to create) is a Tiny Cabin for Hedge Gnomes, which gives 3 Shrub Sprouts by tapping it and spawns 5 more over several minutes, at which point it disintegrates. These 8 Shrub Sprouts are enough for merging to a level 3 Bush. Level 6 of the Bushes is the Wonder Ruins of the Sky Palace (so one Wonder per 20 Cabins or roughly 400 Elderwood), which you can tap out to make several Tanzanite Eggs and the corresponding Nests, along with the variety of Dragon Chests which are the most efficient way of obtaining these same Eggs using Gems. Along the way, you'll also harvest Ruby Fire Eggs, Leaves to make more Dragon Trees, and a bunch of Life Orbs, Life Flowers and Magic Coins. You can keep the Wonders to make more Eggs/Nests/Chests/Vaults every so often, but the long term cycle is so slow you'll complete your Quest before you can get anything else from them, so you can also sell the Wonders for 750 Coins each.
  • 1 of every non-Event level 10 Dragon will net you 154,500 Dragon Power, which is more than the 140,000 Dragon Power needed to clear all the Evil Fog in Camp. If you are trying to get one of everything, you'll only need 3 level 9 Dragons, not 5 (although not very recommended to merge in 3, since you can get a 16.67% discount by merging in 5).
  • This is the only page to have lots of comments.
